If you’ve spent any time looking at peptides, you’ve seen these two names together.

A lot.

BPC-157 and TB-500 are probably the most talked-about pair in the whole category. So it’s natural to wonder how they compare.

Here’s the short answer: they’re not rivals.

They come from completely different places. They’re built differently. And that’s a big part of why they’re so often looked at together.

Where BPC-157 comes from

It’s a short chain of 15 amino acids. Amino acids are the small building blocks that link together to make peptides and proteins.

Its sequence was taken from a larger protein found in human gastric juice, the digestive fluid in your stomach.

It was first described by a team at the University of Zagreb in Croatia in the early 1990s.

The BPC-157 you’ll find today is made in a lab. It isn’t extracted from anything.

Where TB-500 comes from

Thymosin beta-4 is everywhere. It’s found in almost every cell in the human body.

It was first identified in the early 1980s, from work on tissue from the thymus, a small gland in the chest. That’s where the “thymosin” part of the name comes from.

Inside cells, thymosin beta-4 helps manage actin, a protein that forms part of each cell’s internal scaffolding.

Different, not competing

So one started life in the stomach. The other is based on a protein found right through the body.

That’s why comparing them isn’t really about picking a winner.

Think of a spanner and a screwdriver. They’re different tools with different shapes, and nobody asks which one is better. They just live in the same toolbox.

BPC-157 and TB-500 are a bit like that.

Why they’re so often paired

Because they come from such different starting points, people tend to look at them as a pair rather than as an either/or.

That’s why you’ll see them side by side so often, in reading lists, in discussions and in store catalogues.

It’s also why we offer BPC-157 and TB-500 together as a combo, in a few sizes. Each one is also available on its own, and the pair features in two of our three-peptide combos too.

The bottom line

BPC-157 and TB-500 get compared all the time. But the more you learn about them, the less it looks like a contest.

Different origins. Different structures. Same toolbox.

FAQ

Is BPC-157 better than TB-500?

There’s no ranking between them. They’re based on different natural proteins and built differently, which is why most comparisons end up treating them as a pair.

Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?

Not quite. TB-500 is a lab-made peptide based on thymosin beta-4. Thymosin beta-4 is the natural protein found in the body’s cells.

Which one came first?

Thymosin beta-4 was identified in the early 1980s, roughly a decade before BPC-157 was first described in Croatia.

Are BPC-157 and TB-500 natural?

Both are made in a lab. BPC-157’s sequence comes from a natural stomach protein, and TB-500 is based on a natural protein found in most cells.

Can I buy BPC-157 and TB-500 together?

Yes. PSA Science offers them as a combo in 2x, 3x and 4x sizes. They also appear together in three-peptide combos alongside CJC-1295 or Ipamorelin.
